Summary: Black Dagger Brotherhood Series - 1st three awesome - then they go downhill
Comment: This series started off so good. I read them for the awesome love and passion, the loyalty of the Brothers, to their cause and to their mates. A woman could not be more appreciated, prized, protected, and loved. The Brothers are awesome.
Dark Lover is the story of the King, Wrath, and how he finds his mate, a half-breed vampire and daughter of his best friend. It is passionate and touching. They don't come much tougher, or bigger, than Wrath, but he can also be remarkably gentle with his mate.
Lover Awakened is my favorite of all in the series. It's the story of Zhadist whose past is so brutal that he is now cold and unfeeling, and how he overcomes the effects of his past when he finds his true mate Bella, a full blooded vampire. After he helps her through her transition, a life or death change for a vampire, they are hopelessly bound, physically and emotionally. Very sensual and passionate.
Lover Eternal is the story of Rhage, another great book in the series. It is my third favorite, after the first two, and that is because of the ending. Rhage has a sort of alter ego, the beast, that he cannot control. In spite of that, he finds his mate, Mary, who is a human, a human with a negative prognosis. But when a Brother finds his mate, he loves completely so there is no turning back. A Brother mates for life and that life is hundreds of years long, so yes, the ending is not bad, but neither does it achieve that feeling we get with Good Endings to love stories. Even with a sub par ending, the story is great.
Lover Revealed was a total disappointment. I expected the story of Butch to be as good as the first three, but alas, it surely failed that. Butch's story in the first three books, especially the first, had such potential. And the premise was good, that a human with no place any longer in the human world gravitates to the Brotherhood, and is even considered for induction into the Brotherhood, even has his eye on his potential mate. But it pretty much falls flat of that potential.
Lover Unbound was another disappointment. Still waiting for what I found in the first three books in the series. It's the story of Vishous, who is a totally wonderful Brother, like all the Brothers - gorgeous, huge, fearless, powerful, loyal, virile. And his story of finding his mate and overcoming his brutal past is good. And the metaphysical ending is not really bad, but it's not a very satisfying ending to such a great story. The book should not be missed in the series, just to keep track of what everyone is up to, but again, it does not come up to snuff with the first three.
Lover Enshrined is a step up from the last two disappointments. Not as good as the first three (I'm wondering if Ward will ever get back to the quality of her first 3.) but much better than the last three. The story of Phury, who is Zhadist's twin, is moving and gives me hope that maybe the next book will bring back the charisma of the first 3 books. Phury gets sucked in by the Scribe Virgin for most of the book, struggling with his so-called duty as the stud of the Brotherhood, and he is sooo Not built for it emotionally. But definitely worth the read, just maybe not a re-read.
Overall, the series is great. Just don't expect too much after the third book. The Brothers are awesome males. Each Brother has untold emotional depths, incomparable virility, unbounding physical strength, and admirable loyalty to the 'hood and their mates. Every woman's fantasy. And hey, these battles with the Lessening Society are mostly tiresome. I know we need the bad guys, as well as the good guys, but the Lessors are just disgusting. Mostly I just skip those sections.

Summary: Excellent story line and loved her unusual portrayal of vampires!
Comment: This is my first read of a vampire storyline. I couldn't put it down. I admit I had few expectations of a romance sort of novel and even less for a story about a group of vampires. I was shocked at the detailed world the author has created, and she presents unique attributes to her vampires that extend beyond those typically found in popular culture. Like, their preferences for vampire blood and not human blood! I ended up reading the entire series and loved every book. This book drew me in, and even though I found the book somewhat profane in it's use of language, it didn't detract at all from the overall quality of the book. I will say that if you are bothered by graphic sex and language, this book (series) might be hard for you to read. Having said that though, there is much more to this book than it's sex and rough language. Overall, excellent!

Comment: Omg!! I'm in Love with the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I am an African American women, and I love a good tale of Vampires. Wrath and his brothers are simply OMG, to be Beth, to be cought up in the arms of a Vampire like those men in a oh so loving manner would make any women say OMG take me!!, to be loved, seduced, and then that roughneck comes out..makes a girl get all tingly inside. I did not want this story to end, I got so engulfed in this novel. This was just the tasted that I was looking for, and I can't wait to grab hold of Rhage in Lover Eternal. J.R. Ward I am 4ever a fan, your world of Vampire writting is Deliciuos, erotic, and very much thuggish....mmmmmmmh I love it!!

Summary: The Best!!!
Comment: This is the first in her series of six and I have read all of them - the author's writing is so intense and detailed you feel as if you are truly a part of the character's lives. And the author gets better with each character she writes about. I strongly encourage everyone to give this book and chance and continue with the others in the series. You will agree with me!!

Comment: This was hands down the most embarrassing book I have EVER read in public...the worst book titles in a series ever.
OTHER that than, God help me, I was completely enthralled. It was just trashy enough, just vampy enough, with tons of action- never a slow part. Wrath had a good story to tell.
The author poured so much personality into the male characters the women were totally one demensional...then again who's reading them for the women?
