Editorial Reviews:

Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!

Summary: You Have To Read This Book
Comment: Wow, where do I start. If you will read just one book this year, I whole heartily recommend The Shack. It was sad, moving, powerful and enlightening. It's profound! I read it in 2 days, it's not a big book, but it has a big impact. This book touched my heart in a way that I didn't expect and can't really explain. It's fiction that seems so real that you can't help but get caught up in the humanity of it.

Summary: GREAT Book Fiction Metaphoric allegory
Comment: I liked this book very much, it puts into words unspoken questions I have had; "Why is God mean? ", "Why do bad things happen?" etc. I have been a Christian for 20+ years and have been embarrassed at the way many Christians practice their "RELIGION". I have always thought that Jesus must hate religion and the way it segments and separates His people. This fiction book speaks to us saying God can do and be what ever He wants and He is on my side. What else do we need to know? This fiction book is not trying to replace the bible; it is a story which gives one food for thought - that is a good thing! John 3:16

Summary: The Shack
Comment: It is a very interesting book and encouraged me to think outside of the box. It has broadened my views of God and my relationship to Him, to Jesus and the Holy Spirit and their roles in my life.

Summary: Bewildering Book
Comment: I was not happy with this book. I consider it a waste of my hard earned money. There are strange concepts about God the Father that troubled me. Isn't God the Father a Spirit? Then why is He a women working in the kitchen in this book? Seems like a lack of reverence for God to lower His true idenity.

It did show the love God has for His children. It left me with more questions about the author and where he's coming from.

Summary: Life Changing! Amazing!
Comment: This book is so awesome. After I read it, I ordered five more copies to give away to people I love. Every page had something beautiful on it. I'd have to stop and put the book down and just breathe for a minute to absorb what I'd just read. The first few chapters are tragic and difficult to read through, but it gets so much better--it's so much bigger than I'd imagined. This story of pure love is amazing. I truly do wish everyone could read The Shack and get something out of it. If I had more money, I'd buy dozens of copies and share! And I wholly encourage others to do so. Read it and pass it on! It's soooooooo goooooood!
