Customer Rating: Summary: Flowtron model BK-40D and BK-15D electronic bug zapper Comment: I live in Central Wisconsin and the mosquitoes are the worst I've seen in years, because of all the rain we've had this spring. I ordered 2 of the Flowtron bug zappers (1/2 acre and a 1 acre). They have helped tremendously to get rid of the bugs. We can actually enjoy being outdoors again. They are continually zapping the bugs day and night. We put a tray under one of the zappers to see just how many bugs got zapped. There were hundreds of bugs (flies, mosquitoes, moths, wasps) laying dead by morning. These zappers are great.
Customer Rating: Summary: Flowtron 1/2 acre Perfect for Backyard Comment: For years my wife and I lived without any kind of bug protection. We immediately noticed a difference after hanging this off of our furtherest point on our deck. It is very hard not just to stop and listen to it because it truly does attract and zap every bug that swarms to it. This thing is super effective and will probably come with us on future camping trips.
Our neighbors are ordering the same one as well it is so effective. I highly recommend this product and cannot say enough good things...great deal!!!

Customer Rating: Summary: Lasted A Whole 2 Months Comment: I bought this with high hopes. Right out of the box this thing was super loud but I thought maybe it would settle in. Well it did. The noise dropped off after about 3 days. But I should have returned it right away. The thing died completely just outside the return window. Total junk!
Customer Rating: Summary: Good job so far. Comment: I've had the Flowtron for about two weeks now. It has worked well and the mosquito population has been minimized in my back yard. The question you have to ask yourself before buying this is, "Are you smarter than a mosquito?" If the answer is "yes," this product will work for you. Besides the octenol pack, which lures the mosquito to the device, I also place a piece of sweaty clothing near the device, like socks or a shirt, to enhance its attractiveness for mosquitos. Other items I plan to try near the device: a bag of composting grass, which releases carbon dioxide and generates some heat, as well as dry ice, which gives off carbon dioxide. I have not used these other items yet becuase the current set-up has worked so well. As for "beneficial bugs" being killed, I haven't seen it at all. I only run the lamp at night, so bees and other daytime bugs aren't affected. I have yet to see a single moth killed by this device (if those could be considered beneficial bugs). My bug lamp cost about $24 and a six-pack of octenol packets cost $21 (both bought at Sam's Club). For less than $50, you can provide good mosquito protection in your yard.
