Customer Rating: Summary: just ok - would love more mini games within the game Comment: I ususally "preview" software by renting it from the library. if it's a hit, then I purchase it. My 3 year old is a HUGE Scooby fan, so we rented this game to test out.
The graphics and voices are true to the tv show, so this game really holds my son's attention. I like that there are 3 levels of difficulty. We stuck to the "spooky" (easy) level.
The main screen puts the gang in the middle of the ghost town. They can basically go in 3 different directions which bring them to different parts of the town. In each section, there are 2 different buildings the gang can enter, suspects to interview, and items to pick up.
Now, my son is probably on the young side for this game, but searching for clues did seem a little over his head. In some cases, you have to go into one building and talk to a suspect who will tell you that they need a specific item. Then you have to go to a different building to find the item and bring it back to the suspect. Not a problem for a slightly older child, but a little too complicated for us.
Mostly, my son likes giving out scooby snacks. And there is one mini game that we found in the saloon, where you can throw pies at the ghost. I think my son would be happy just playing that the whole time. I'd really like if there were more mini games like that within the program.
As an aside, our game kept crashing once we got to the part with the train ride. But that may just be that our library copy was defective, so I wouldn't rate against that here.
Customer Rating: Summary: This game is great! Comment: First, I'd like to say that all the people that have reviewed this game are adults. Next, this game isn't for adults!! It's for kids!! My sister and I REALLY enjoyed playing this game, it's simply a matter of opinion, some kids will find it fun, others just need more challenge then this game can give. I'm 12, and I still like playing this game, though I am starting to look for more of a challenge. This is one of those games you play for a while, then forget about it for a few months, then go back to it and refresh your memory on how it play it. I love this game!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Fun first time only Comment: Our 3 children love computer games, (ages 6,7,&8) but this one they only wanted to play once. The game is too repetetive, and not very challenging.
Customer Rating: Summary: Only for the REALLY YOUNG!! Comment: I bought this for a family get together anticipating the kids would have a fun afternoon. They are all die hard Scooby fans! We had problems from the start. We had to go to 3 websites to find the patch needed to run the game with Direct X 8. Although the graphics and animation were great, the kids solved the hardest level in just 30 minutes! The villian was the same and so were the clues. Even the video sequences were recycled on each level. The repetitive nature and the installation problems made us regret buying the game.
Customer Rating: Summary: Scooby Doo Showdown in Ghost Town Comment: My 5 year old loves this game. He needed a little help getting started, but once figured out the navigation, he was on his way. He has played it on his own numerous times, and is ready to try more Scooby games!
