Summary: fun adventure of sleuthing
Comment: Nancy has relocated to Los Angeles because her father has accepted an assignment there. Promising her father not to do any more sleuthing, Nancy tries to fit in at a nearby high school. However, Nancy is on a different wavelength than with the rest of the students there. She's deemed old fashioned and behind on time, despite her courteous manners.
Meanwhile, while staying at an old mansion, circumstances involving a dead actress, Dehlia Draycott, and a hidden will tempts Nancy into sleuthing. Pretty soon, she discovers herself and new friends in midst of dangers...all behind her father's back.
I found *Nancy Drew* to be an enjoyable film even though I found some parts to be a bit cheesy. Nonetheless, it's a good ol' dose of fun to watch.

Summary: Fun trip down nostalgic lane
Comment: As a child I was a bib fan of the books and wanted for nostalgia purposes to give this movie a shot. I went into it with no expectations what-so-ever. Consequently I found it a fun romp down memory lane. The movie is almost a farcical look at today's youth. Nancy, as a character, has not changed much. She is intelligent and forthright. The world she finds herself has changed. She a blast from the past to the people in LA and as far as her peers go, an unwelcome one. The movie, just as Nancy, doesn't take itself too seriously and that is what makes it enjoyable. You can chuckle and laugh at the predicaments without feeling you are making fun of the movie, which is what I figured I would probably end up doing in order to enjoy myself. Carolyn Keene, whoever she really is, would have been proud to be linked to this movie.

As a huge Nancy Drew fan, I was very excited to watch this modern day Nancy Drew mystery movie.
The main difference in this modern day twist is Nancy's age. They set her age as a teenage high school student. The Nancy from the books is eternally eighteen-years-old. (The first books came out in the 1930's and new books are still being published today).
I was not disappointed in the Nancy Drew movie. She is a crime solving wonder, taking chances, and even going behind her dad's back to solve a mystery. Let's face it, if there is a mystery to be solved, Nancy Drew is your girl.
When Nancy's Dad, Carson Drew takes a job in Hollywood, he hopes for Nancy to make a fresh start and to give up mysteries. Nancy makes a promise to her father, "No more mysteries." When she moves into the home of the deceased Hollywood movie star, Dehlia Draycott, the image of the movie star is prevalent throughout the house. Nancy even hears the voice of Dehlia in her sleep.
Nancy begins to wonder about Dehlia Draycott's mysterious death. How can the teenager keep the promise to her father, when a mystery is all around her? Nancy follows clues which lead her to danger, excitement and a long lost heir. Will she solve the mystery? Will she ever be accepted by her peers at the new school? Will her dad finally understand her need to solve a mystery?
Kids and parents will love Nancy Drew. I really hope this movie will entice a whole new generation of Nancy Drew readers.
