The GameCube, like the PlayStation and Dreamcast before it, gets its game data from unwriteable disc media, so, unlike Nintendo's cartridge-based games of yore, you'll need this accessory to save your place in the game, store your preferences, and preserve the stats of your sports games. The GameCube Memory Card 59 is really small--about the size and weight of a poker chip--and comes with 4 MB flash memory (divided into 59 blocks, hence the name), which should be enough to get you started. If you want to archive all your games for posterity, though, you're going to need more than one.

Comment: This memory card can not hold that many games. I only recommend this memory card for people whom just got a Gamecube or only have a few games.

Let us do some calculation
8 Bit = 1 Byte
1 Mega Bit or Byte = 1024 Kilo Bit or Byte
Memory Card 59 Blocks = 4 Mbit = 4096 Kbit = 512 KByte
512 KByte / 59 blocks = 8.678 KByte
How much is nintendo charging? $9.00
How large is Playstation 2 card?
8 Mega Byte = 64 Mbit = 59 blocks *64/4 = 944 Blocks
How much are we paying for 512 MByte SD, Compact Flash, or Memory Stick?
Around $8.00 or even Free.
And who wants 512MB cards these days?

Comment: HI, i purchased this card for just a test, and it's working fine, however if you will purchase games like Hitman 2, the saved games will completely eat it. It uses a lot of space.
