Cut thick slices of apple for pies, or veggies for stir fries. Slice potatoes thinly for homemade chips, or cabbage for cole slaw. Shred carrots for salad, or julienne, or cube, or dice. With a helpful set of instructions and three cutters, this machine yields professional looking, uniform results, at great speed and without much work on your part.

Customer Rating: Summary: Slice and julienne wth ease; save $$$ on your grocery bill Comment: I purchased this mandolin slicer after seeing it on the Food Network. For the price, this is an excellent slicer. I know there are mandolins on the market for $200 or more but I don't have any need to spend more money. This slicer does everything I need.
Slice vegetables and fruits thick or thin. The holder protects your fingers from the sharp blade. The one tip to remember is that you don't want to overload the slicer. Keep the vegetable and fruit pieces manageable and you won't have any trouble keeping the slicer steady on the counter.
We have two young sons, so mixing up the presentation is important to keep them from getting bored. They like the large, thin vegetable slices for lunch as finger foods. We don't buy bagged salad kits anymore. Salad kits cost about $3-$4 per pound (most bags come in 9oz or 12oz sizes).
With this tool and the OXO salad spinner we have a wonderful salad in minutes.
Customer Rating: Summary: Easy as pie Comment: After a year and 6 months this unit remains sharp as new.It slices onions, celery cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots & potatoes in the blink of an eye.It makes short work of piles of veggies every time we make soups and/or salads.
Customer Rating: Summary: BUY this NOW if you have limited hand mobility Comment: For once, I've got somehting that WORKS. My food processor (a really good KitchenAid), is going to my daughter in law.
Hooo Boy it's SHARP. For the first time I have a tool than can slice tomatoes without squishing 'em.
I use it just about every day.
Wonderful.
Customer Rating: Summary: Borner slicer Comment: Bought one in Germany 20 years ago & finally had to replace it. Still great
Customer Rating: Summary: Bad Experience Here Comment: I have not had the experience of so many others here. The item is not easy to set up, one must be careful of the blades surrounding the borders of the slicer inserts. Not easy to clean, made mush of the tomatoes, and potatoes.
Sorry, my experience rates this one star.
