Will I need an umbrella? Do the kids have to wear coats? Forecasting the weather with approximately 75% accuracy for 12 to 20 hrs., this weather station will become one of those household items that you wonder how you ever did without. The 433MHz wireless station displays the correct time and date without fail—it's calibrated daily to the atomic time standard of the NIST—as well as the indoor temperature, outdoor temp, indoor humidity (%RH) and weather forecast. The forecast is displayed as an icon (like the symbols used in the news), making it fast and easy to read. The forecast is produced by information received from an outdoor transmitter, which senses trends in barometric pressure. Station features Celsius/Fahrenheit select for all temperatures, 12 or 24 hr. time mode, dual time alarms with snooze, data receiving from as many as 3 remotes (additional remotes sold separately) and a transmission range of up to 80 feet. Includes weather station, removable stand and one TX6U transmitter. Wall hanging or free standing. Weather station: 7Hx4.5Lx1W. Outdoor transmitter: 3.25Hx2.25Lx1W.

Customer Rating: Summary: A toy is just a toy... Comment: Roll the dice... these are highly INACCURATE! La Crosse Technology company plays the following game: They claim the device has "0.1 degree RESOLUTION" but then the base station and the remotes have an undocumented-and-unbelievably POOR accuracy tolerance of "2.0 to 4.0 degrees" -- an inaccuracy a whopping 40-times the ".1 degree RESOLUTION". IMAGINE paying good money for a THERMOMETER that is off by 4 degrees! To test: before installing, put them both (the base-station (for measuring INSIDE temperature) and the remote probe (for measuring OUTSIDE temperature)) in the same room for a couple hours and you will become disingenuinely disappointed at how far apart the temperature accuracy/readings are! There are no internal adjustments able to correct this. The company will NOT do anything to correct this and will only loud that "accuracy" is NOT "resolution"!
If you want an expensive TOY, this might be for you... If you want an accurate thermometer, you'll do better dropping a couple dollars at a 5 and 10 cent store! Customer Rating: Summary: Works Fine, However... Comment: I've owned this for about a year and a half now after replacing an old indoor/outdoor liquid thermometer. It has worked just fine. I do have several comments to make about it though. Placement of the sensor is critical. I found that any direct sunlight raised the temperature at least 10 degrees. Make sure you have a spot that is in constant shade for the sensor. They mentioned that it could have problems picking up the signal through walls etc. but I have moved the receiving unit to several different rooms in the house with no problem. I only have one sensor and did spend some time checking batteries and such when it accidentally got switched to the second non existant sensor. This is not hard to do.
Why 4 stars? Because of the layout. Most of the time you just want to know what the temperature is outside, right? Well it's a little bitty number on the bottom of the screen. Right next to it is the inside temperature so even after a year I find myself walking up to it and picking it up to read it. It is not the place I normally think of to check the time which is displayed on top along with the date. It is annoying enough that if this one should ever break which I don't expect it will I would replace it with one that had big temperature numbers and forget some of the bells and whistles. I have several clocks that give me the time and all though it is accurate about the hmidity and barametric pressure symbols so is the weather channel. Customer Rating: Summary: Low price, and works great Comment: This weather station works great, and delivers what is advertised about it. As others have said, the clock is set automatically, so nothing to fiddle with there. The outside sensor works great, and is weather proof. I'm happy with it. Customer Rating: Summary: Clean, well-designed and simple to set up and use Comment: Let's face it, guys (and girls) like their e-toys. So if you are looking for a fun, useful gift you can't go wrong here. Who isn't interested in the weather?
The bottom line here is convenience. Since this smart-looking base unit runs on batteries and is wireless you can pick it up and place it anywhere in the house -- in the kitchen or on the nightstand. The time auto-updates itself via atomic clock, so no need to worry about resetting, and with the external remote monitor you can check the temperature inside or out from under the covers of your own bed.
Simple to set up with clear, easy-to-read display. All the weather basics are covered. I've owned this for more than a year and have never experienced a problem.
The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that with everything the WS-7075UF has going for it, at >$50 it seems a tad pricey (though I must confess to being a bit of a miser). That said, I just purchased another as a gift for my brother. Customer Rating: Summary: The FIRST Perfect Gift For Dad Comment: I have tried every year to get my dad something he would use and actually like. This is the first item that he has raved over. Everytime we visit, he has another added compliment for it. He checks it every morning before getting ready for work and every night before going to bed. He also likes the humidity feature that tells you if it is too dry in your home.
Because of all the good remarks my father has for it, my husband wants one now too!!! I'm sure we will be getting one soon for our own home.
UPDATE: We purchased one for ourself and it stil works wonderfully... we've even added the wireless rain gauge to our collection.
