Customer Rating: Summary: great knife Comment: Works great with roasts and bread which is all I've used it for so far.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty good for its purpose Comment: Arthritic hands make for difficult handling of tools. My former electric carving knife works just fine for spouse and grown children, but I was unable to keep it running long enough to make a cut. This implement allows me to depress and keep depressed the cutting trigger. I've carved some fairly tough meats and some very tender cuts. The knife has worked equally well for both. I haven't yet tried it on anything frozen. The blades are easy to attach and detach. They clean easily with a soapy sponge, and have survived the dishwasher well, too.
If I have any complaints, it would be that the knife is rather heavy and my hands tire easily when using it; being tied to a cord restricts its use to the preparation area, rather than the table; and (although I thoroughly understand the reason for it) having to hold down the trigger continuously is tiring. That third reason has no validity . . . if the knife is dropped, it doesn't need to keep cutting anything it comes in touch with!
All in all, this is a very satisfactory tool, especially for persons with problem hands.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great knife for great price Comment: I got this knife to cut bread... it works wonderfully! My first impression of it though, was that it is much larger than it looks online! Very long but does it's job... can't complain for $20!
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent value Comment: I have had several electric knives over the past 40+ years, and this is one of the best. I have used it to carve a turkey and slice home made rye bread. It cut through the turkey like a hot knife through butter. I was able to make the slices as thin or thick as I wanted. It easily sliced the rye bread; and, again, I was able to make slices as uniform and thin as I wanted. The slices looked as if they were made by a professional slicing machine. The knife is very well balanced as well.
Customer Rating: Summary: Poorly-Designed Trigger Mechanism Comment: The first time my wife used this knife we discovered that to turn it on takes two hands: one hand to hold the knife and trigger and the other to press the safety lock. This safety mechanism makes the knife awkward to use because if you want to stop between slices (e.g., to position the meat or remove slices), you have to use both hands to restart the knife. While the knife slices well, this knife is over-designed for safety (like a lot of things in our over-litigious society)!
