The Manduka BlackMatPRO is the top-of-the-line yoga mat on the market today. It is extremely durable, dense, and will last about a century (rough estimate!) before it ever starts to break down. The fact that these mats lasts so incredibly long means that very few of them will see a landfill, making them a true eco yoga mat. Plus, the Manduka BlackMatPRO is made from eco-certified PVC, which means that they are manufactured in a manner which ensures that PVC is not released into the atmosphere (a.k.a. emissions-free manufacturing). The Manduka BlackMatPRO is thick without being "spongy". Its thickness works to cushion your elbows, knees, and spine from the hard floor, while its firmness supports you in balance poses. Its durability is attested to by its weight (a hefty 7 pounds). Comment: Yes, the mat is the Taj Mahal of yoga mats as described by someone. Cushioning is perfect for spine, and with stability due to non- slipperyness,the stretching in hathyoga becomes better leading to a quicker attainment to sidhdha in asana(posture).Also,I would purchase the longer one 85" later and give this 71" one for women in the house for their exclusive use.It will last a lifetime,this claim also appears based on fact.Thanks. Summary: Too soon to tell
Comment: I've searched for the perfect mat for a while now. It didn't have to be cute or pink I just wanted a mat that lasted longer than 6 months. The mats I was buying would begin to flake and by the end of class would end on my skin. Embarassing!!! It doesn't make any sense for me to buy enviromentally friendly mats anymore because I now have 6 unusable mats in my garage.
A little research brought me to the Manduka Black mat. I have high expectations for this mat. I don't have any complaints really. I think I need to break it in a little more. Too soon to tell whether or not I'll shred this one too. Only time will tell....

Summary: One of the Best Yoga Mats
Comment: This is one of the best yoga mats on the market. It is well constructed and will last for years. It is not your typical wimpy yoga mat so be prepared for the weight of it. One important thing to note is: if you have sweaty hands you may have some slippage problems. I solved this by using a towel for my hands.

Comment: This is a great mat. The thickness provides much more comfort for some yoga positions. You get a good firm grip without sticking to the mat and dragging it with you when you change positions. Worth every penny!
