Summary: An old model, but still the best gps
Comment: I bought this model as a refurb for $300 a few years ago. I still have it. I have also, in that time, had a Magellan 700 (which died), a Tom Tom One 3rd. Ed., a Magellan 2200T, and a recently purchased Garmin 680.

They all work and each has its positive points. The 2200T has the best suction cup mount by far, the TomTom lets you add map corrections, and the 680 has mp3 and bluetooth.

However, if you just want the best, easiest to use gps, the old Garmin 2270 is it. It has a superb bean-bag mount, a brilliant display, a remote control, test-to-speech, great sound (the 680 is a joke by comparison) wonderful trip planning, and you can still get map updates for it. Its negatives are it does not get satellites indoors, the speaker is on the power adapter and a bit BIG (hence the great sound), and it has no internal battery capability. Also a bit bulky, but who really cares about that...it lives on the dash. Overall, it is a very polished gps product and Garmin has yet to match its gps features in the newer nuvi models.

You can get these for a hundred and a half as refurbs with a one year warranty now, and they are, frankly, a steal at that price.

Summary: Great product, lots of options!
Comment: This GPS is easy to use, lots of options, and I am glad I have purchased it. I am never lost.
The only issues I dislike is, the time it takes to start up, no battery and sometimes the GPS unit has a bad connection with the satellites.

Summary: Easy to use GPS unit
Comment: This is my first GPS unit and was fairly easy to get up and running though more hours of reading the manual lie ahead if I want to learn to use all of its features. As a home care nurse I use the unit daily and generally find that my routing gets me where I need to go quickly. The voice feature allows me to keep my eyes on the road and still follow directions. The unit quickly recalculates alternate routes when I encounter road construction or traffic jams. I also use this unit on my motorcycle mounted on a RAM mount, which works well. The two most annoying traits I've found, so far: It's impossible to make accurate entries on the touch screen with my big fingers much less using gloved hands, and the screen is very difficult to see when on the bike in bright sunlight. I understand that a hood is available that may help. Amazon's vendor sells this refurbished unit for a very reasonable 149.00 with a 1 year warranty.

Summary: Great GPS, Great Deal
Comment: Bought this for use on my motorcycle. Dealer wants $1300 for essentially the same unit with Bluetooth (which I don't need) and their logo. This does the same thing at a fraction of the cost.

Summary: The only review you need to read - unit has fatal flaw
Comment: This was the third Garmin we've owned. Our previous Street Pilot models were inferior to the 2720. While it worked, it was awesome. Unfortunately, the unit didn't even last 2 years. The touch screen stops responding. It was infrequent at first and a hard-reset would solve the problem (and delete all the user's data.) The problem got progressively worse to the point where it's not usable. A quick search of the Internet will show that there are dozens of people who've posted the same thing happening to their young units. Garmin owes a bunch of people money.
