Faced with the task of giving a voice to a central character that does not speak, Universal Pictures turned to Jack Johnson to craft songs that could provide a voice for Curious George. As a new father, it gave him the opportunity to make an album for both parents and children. Presented with early animations and the story line, Jack crafted new songs that capture the emotions of Curious George as he leaves the jungle to follow the Man with the Yellow Hat. He also turned to friends Ben Harper, G. Love, and Matt Costa to contribute songs that might bridge the gap between parent and child. Joined on the record by his band (Adam Topol, Merlo Podlewski, and Zack Gill), Jack duets with three of the other songwriters (Ben Harper, G. Love, and Matt Costa), and does a cover of the White Stripes' "We're Going to Be Friends." Parents who watched Schoolhouse Rock on Saturday mornings when they were children will recognize Jack's take on the classic "Three Is a Magic Number," reinterpreted with the 3 R's as a call to protect the environment and Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Sing-a-Longs and Lullabies feels like so much more than your standard soundtrack due to its unified creative vision. Comment: Short and simple: Jack Johnson simply CAN'T be bad!!! He may have a song here and there that I like a little less than others, but NEVER one that I can truly say that I don't like. Anybody that has never listened to him is missing out, so do yourself a favor and get on the Jack Johnson wagon, you WON'T be sorry! SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH!!!!!!!

Summary: Great CD for little ones and big ones alike
Comment: This is my 3rd Jack Johnson CD, so I knew it would be good. This has some fun songs that are great for kids, though even those have a lot of clever and humorous lyrics that the adults will appreciate. As with any other Jack Johnson CD, I have a difficult time telling you which tracks are my favorite because it sometimes changes with each listen. Each track is what I've come to expect from this artist, and just like the other CDs, if you aren't crazy about a track the first time through, don't worry. It may end up becoming one of your favorites. Some songs jump out at you immediately and you love them instantly. Some of his songs just need a little more time to grow on you, but you'll probably end up loving them all in the end. Typical outstanding Jack Johnson work, and the guest artists actually add a lot of variety to the CD as well. GREAT CD!
