Rachael Ray Gusto Grip Knives feature a patented synthetic rubber and polypropylene orange handle to help keep your hand from slipping.
NEW F¿ri Guard antimicrobial inhibitors are incorporated directly and permanently into the Gusto-Grip handles during the manufacturing process, giving the handle an added safeguard against microorganisms that can degrade the handle materials over time.
Each knife has a solid forged bolster and tang constructed from one piece of the superior German CrMov stainless steel alloy.
The handle is pressed into the thick tang and then a stainless steel counterweight is pressed into the tail for perfect balance.

Summary: a bit heavy
Comment: I was excited to purchase this quality knife. I'd been using a similar one, but much less expensive. I was disappointed after it's first use, as it was too heavy to maneuver like I wanted. You'd think heavy would be good -- good construction, good materials -- and this probably is true. However, after owning this knife for over 2 months, I still reach for my older one and leave this one in the drawer. It IS very sharp, but too clumsy for me to use.

Comment: I've had this knife for about 6 months now. It was a bonus item when I order one of the pans so of course I took it. I have another Santoku style knife that I love but for the deal another couldn't hurt, right? Well this one is much lighter than my original one, it cuts extremely well and while the grip felt a little odd to me at first (compared to the one I was used to) I find that I really like it.
So, cuts great, lighter and easier to maneuver and comfortable to hold. I find it is the one I reach for most often. Win - win.

Summary: Cheaply Made
Comment: I tried this knife at Sur La Table at the Furi demo. They appeared to be very sharp. However I did not like these knives for the following reasons
1) I dont care much for the cheap plastic-like orange handles
2) The finish on the knives appear to be cheap. Furi implies that these knives are made in Germany. However they are cheaply "Made in China". Now generally I dont care that much .. everything is now made in China anyways.. But when I am paying so much money for a product, I was hoping it was made in Germany or USA.
3) The case is even more cheaply made.
Personally, I would wait for a sale on the Global or the Wustof knives.

Comment: I have watched Rachael Rays 30 min Meals for several years and am always impressed with the cutlrey she uses and how durable it seems. I wanted just 1 GOOD knife that i could use for all things. ONe nite i saw the perfect item advertised on her show and that was the Gusto Grip knife. It seemed to make clean cuts and looke easy to use. I LOVED IT...SO i am ordering one. Now that I have commented on the product i must admit that I love Rachael and her shows. She is a VIVACIOUS and motivated LADY that seems to love what she is doing. KEEP IT UP RACHAELLLLLLLLLL......How bout some more shows on quick recipes for chicken and ground beef tho......Thanks
