Customer Rating: Summary: Capzasin-HP cream Comment: This stuff is great. My dermatologist suggested I try it for a persistent perceived itch I have on my back, caused by bone spurs on my spine. It isn't a real itch, but my brain is getting a false message that includes a sensation of critters running around on my back as well as the itching, which can be almost unbearable at times. The neurologist had told me I'd have to live with it, but the capsaicin cream calms the itch considerably. The trade off is that I have to be careful not to activate the burning phenomenon that happens when my capsaicin-treated back gets warm from exercise or exposure to heat. It's such a relief not to be bugged by that constant itch that I feel it is a small price to pay, and it's manageable (I try not to use the capsaicin when I'm anticipating being in the sun or in a hot car, etc., and I recommend cold water and/or ice to stop the burn). What I like best is that it has a long-lasting effect, and I've gotten to a point where I don't need it constantly; therefore, I can pick and choose when to apply it. He liked it so much, he told our daughter about it. She was having trouble with her knee and shoulder. Now they are both Capzacin users and swear by it, it has made a difference for both of them. They have less pain. The only negative thing they have to say is "Be sure to wash your hands completely or use gloves or it will burn your hands". Gloves are the way to go when using. The biggest issue for some people is that it is very potent. The first few times you apply it, you'll feel a burning not unlike a sunburn. After a few applications, this will diminish but not completely disappear.
If you're in serious pain, this is serious relief. I'm glad I found it.
