Comment: This item is incredibly useful. It is a clock, an alarm timer and a count-up timer.

I am a hot glass worker and I dare not be even a minute late in turning off a kiln if I do not want a piece of glass art to turn into a puddle. That is what first got me to buy and use this device. But, I find the item works well as an alarm clock - its size lends itself to use as a travel alarm/clock.

It is very handy for cooking, setting yard sprinklers, etc. - any activity that requires that you stay on notice. You can set the stove, sprinkler, etc. and then go about your other business in other places with an uncluttered, unworried mind because the timer is small (1"x3/8"x4"), light and has a neck lanyard.

The small battery runs for years, literally and drives the solid-state mechanism and an easily-readible digital readout. Comes in black and ivory.

Summary: Excellent timer
Comment: The timer works great, is pretty easy on batteries and reliable. I've had mine for years now and have replaced the battery once. I use it all the time. It would be 5 stars if it were a little bigger and the number buttons were arranged in a keypad type arrangement rather than the goofy 1-5 in the top row and 6-10 in the bottom row (meaning I have to look at the buttons all the time and making it easy to hit the wrong number). But at least it has number buttons at all, which most timers do not.

Summary: easy to use
Comment: I really like this item. It's so easy to use. There is bottoms of each number, so it so easy to set the time, just push the number you want, don't need to repeat the same bottom (up or down) like other timers. I always use it for my baking. I like it, eventhough it's a little bit costly. I hope I can use it for long long time.

Summary: Great timer for many tasks
Comment: Here's a tip for you regarding the need for a cover; until the manufacturer creates a cover so as not to press buttons while in your pocket, etc., you may find you have better luck if you set your timer, (or count up) and after that, press the "clock" button so that the time is displayed. Sure you'll likely press buttons accidently, but chances are it won't mess up your timer/counter, as you would have to "accidently" press the timer or counter button first, and then another.... It's not 100% foolproof, but it works for me. My husband loves this, since he's always busy and has a short attention span while grilling, always running in and out of the house, answers the phone, prepares stuff in the kitchen while food is grilling, you get the idea. This little timer keeps him a bit more focused on his grilling, and charred food has decreased dramatically :o) I also use it during the winter season when loading the woodstove, helping me not to forget to close the damper somewhat and engage the combuster, otherwise, the entire charge of wood is likely to burn wastefully away. We have a metal door (to the outside world) and sticking the timer to this door rather than in the kitchen becomes very convenient.....Great for short or long vacations; if you don't have a travel alarm, and don't need to sleep for longer than 9hours and 99 minutes, works fine, Maybe not so good for those of you who rely on a snooze button. Also great to set to remember opening times of museums, amusement parks, when the next bus/boat/train is going to leave, no need to remember to keep looking at your watch....the timer will let you know, just remember to push the clock button afer you've set your timer or counter. One drawback to this little trick; you need to actually press the timer button, then the stop/start button for the timer to stop beeping. The timer itself is good quality, easy to figure out and use, and the battery lasts for a couple of years so far......

Summary: Polder Timer
Comment: This is a wonderful timer/clock. I have just received my THIRD Polder (because family members keep borrowing them). I have several such items, but the Polder is my absolute favorite!
