Customer Rating: Summary: Fairly Reliable With Few Flaws Comment: This plantronics 640E model is sleek, easy to use and operate, and the first bluetooth without having to use the bulky ear hook that most bluetooths still require. It's pretty clear for the most part, but there're times when static starts creeping up when I was talking, and it's pretty annoying. The pairing with the cell phone will at times get interrupted in the middle of a conversation, which was a real hassle, and the connection of the headset will get short circuited from time to time that you can't establish any connection, even though the pairing of the cell phone is working properly in the meantime. Overall, it's a decent headset for the price, along with a sleek pen like charging unit which is really convenient.
Customer Rating: Summary: Cheap knock-off Comment: I bought this exact same item from someone a few months ago. It worked great, had no complaints from anyone about the reception on the other end. When i lost the head unit i came online and bought the exact same item, however, when it arrived i noticed a few little differences between the accessories from my old headset and the accessories with the new one. People also immediately began complaining about the extremely poor audio quality. I would not recommend that you purchase this item online even from someone with a good seller rating. For items like this you probably want to buy straight from an established retailer.
Customer Rating: Summary: You'll hardly notice it's there Comment: Featherweight! Unobtrusive, great sound both incoming and outbound. The silicon conductor which sits in the ear comes in three sizes for optimum fit, and the earwire which fits over the ear is much more tolerable than others I have tried. Volume control is simple to use and not positioned in a place where it can be hit accidentally. The power button is on top of the unit and requires a positive push to power on, actuate voice commands or turn off - smart design!
The only possible detracting point is its susceptibility to wind noise, but I have used it while walking more than most might, I expect.
Unfortunately, this unit ceased charging after about a week of use, but as always, Amazon shines and is sending out a replacement, which I anticipate will give me years of use.
Customer Rating: Summary: Worth it at twice the price Comment: I initially paid over a hundred dollars for this and it was worth it. This headset has fast and portable recharging options, good battery life, great call quality, and it simply works. It really is the 'ultimate' in my book. I use it with 2 phones: a Motorola W385 (Motorola's own bluetooth headsets leave something to be desired) and a Cingular 3125 and have been 100% satisfied with both. Mine even went through the washer and dryer and still works fine (I left it powered off and out of the charger for two weeks afterward).
My only issue, which is minor, is that the "main" button has too many functions. You'll want to keep the quick reference card that comes in the box to remind you of the various functions, until you become familiar with them.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great headset, horrible ear gels Comment: The headset is very good, extremely light to wear in long runs, audio is clear in most conditions. The charger is as bad as written elsewhere, but the ear gels, the ear gels are another story:
I am amazed at how any company can take such a terrible product to market. The three, different sizes, supplied ear gels literally MELT in your ears in a matter of weeks. They are made of a horrid silicone mix that destroys itself, Mission Impossible-wise, after a few weeks of intense use.
Sure, replacements sell for about $5, but still it's a shame an overall good product is kicked in the pants by such a careless finishing.
