Summary: Just what I was looking for!
Comment: This is a car mount for the PanaVise PortaGrip line of cell phone holders (see: New Panavise Portagrip 2000 Phone Holder Model 702); but it works very well for other items as well. I installed one in my own car for my phone, plus one in my wife's car to hold her portable GPS navigator; this is one of the heavier ones, with a built-in DVD player (Polaroid GPS 5.6" Touchscreen with DVD). The Panavise mount is much more sturdy for this purpose than the suction cup that was provided with the unit. Also, the position is perfect - plus it adds real estate to your dash, rather than blocking anything already there.
The mount comes with customized installation instructions for each car make/model. It says professional installation is recommended, but most people should be able to follow these instructions on their own.
