Customer Rating: Summary: Epson 3800 photo printer Comment: Couldn't have been happier with this purchase. Had read all info I could get on it, decided this was the one for me, got it through Amazon and I'm thrilled it's so easy and goof proof.
Customer Rating: Summary: Another winner from Epson Comment: I am a professional photographer and decided that I was tired of the horizontal banding on my 7600 whenever I did not use it for a few days always necessitating a head cleaning or two. After 6 years and 11,000+ prints I'm really not complaining about the 7600 but it was time to make a decision. After some research and discussions with dealers, I thought I'd give the 3800 the nod over the more expensive 4880 and I am happy to report that I am pleasantly pleased. With a much smaller footprint than the 7600, it gives nothing up in print quality and as a matter of fact beats the quality which really pleased and suprised me. Color matching with my monitor was perfect right out of the box another plus, no messing with profiles or rip's. Another plus was that the sheet feeding eliminates the curling you get with roll paper which was worse as you got towards the end of the roll. All these plusses and quieter operation too!
I have gone 3 days without using it so far and the first print after that had no banding! At this point after 3 weeks use and about 200 prints, I am 100% satisfied with this product.
Customer Rating: Summary: Epson 3800 Comment: I am very pleased with the images from the 3800. The only problem I had was the cd that came with the printer was warped but I downloaded the drivers from the website.
Customer Rating: Summary: great professional quality Comment: Very good professional printer, easy to use, adaptable for all my photographic printing needs. This is my first professional printer, so it took some getting used to as far as setting the settings for different paper size and so on, but overall it's relatively easy to figure out your preferences. It produces an exceptional quality photo! The only thing that hurts is the cost of the ink, $60 per cartridge and nine cartridges! A nice feature is it automatically changes the black for you...nice! What a difference a professional printer makes, I will not ever go back to HP!
Customer Rating: Summary: Epson owns your printer, even after you buy it Comment: Don't buy the optional ColorBurst RIP software. There's nothing wrong with the software, except that it only works with Epson papers. You can never add another paper to the list. The RIP is also hard to use and loves to print on absurd locations on the paper, even when you select "center."
The printer itself is nice, and my one call to Epson support was handled well by a gentleman who was sympathetic to the castrated-RIP issue.
Be prepared to spend at least $[...] more for a full-fledged RIP.
