Editorial Reviews:

Diana Ross, Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard (and her replacement Cindy Birdsong) conquered the charts and then the world through their TV appearances. Their looks, their charm and of course their great hits burst from the screen and won over even the harshest critics. Now the fans can have it all over again -- the original "Dreamgirls" doing their thing unlike any group before or since. The Supremes: Reflections, produced for UMe by Historic Films, is an extraordinary DVD collection -- their greatest hits on video in any form for the first time. Included are not only the classic appearances from the Ed Sullivan Show and Hullaballo, but incredible rare footage not seen since first aired more than 40 years ago. As a fabulous bonus, a click of the sub-title button will also reveal entertaining and revealing trivia about each clip.

Then there's the DVD extras, the icing on the cake: additional rare clips of "Baby Love" and "Stop! In The Name Of Love," early footage of the trio doing their first top 40 hit, and uncut footage from the documentary Anatomy Of Pop that includes an interview with Berry Gordy. As with all other UMe/Motown DVD collections, all audio has been significantly upgraded; where the group has lip-synced to the record, you'll now hear remastered stereo right from the Motown vault.

Summary: A Supreme DVD that could have ben sooo much better...
Comment: What a missed opportunity! This could have been much, much better. Plenty of room left on the disc for 6 or more performances to really roun the collection up. Here you get 4 Supremes D/M/F/C but what about the ladies who gave the group a further 6 million sellers..? Jean Terrell did some knockout tv performances from 70-73 on all the major US & UK tv shows and in other countries throught the world. A version of 'Stoned Love', 'Up The Ladder To The Roof', 'Nathan Jones', 'Floy Joy' deserve to be here - after all, Billy Grifffins hits with the Miracles are on that DVD so why exclude Jean/Scherrie/Lynda/Susaye? As usual, it's all about LaRoss. Granted, without her there wouldn't have been as successful a group, but the trio evolved and grew well passed her leaving date. Surely it doesn't cost that much for a researcher to find out some more clips hidden in the vaults around the world? It would have made for a much better and detailed compilation of the group to include their successes post Ross. I just hope this means we'll be getting a Vol 2 but I won't hold my breath...

Summary: Timeless Music
Comment: I gave this DVD as a Christmas gift to my sister who was a huge Diana Ross and the Supremes fan but she never gets to watch it because her 18 y/o granddaughter has become so enthralled with the group that she watches it in her room over and over. She even did her term paper on the Supremes and has introduced her friends to not only this DVD but the the DVD with The Temptations also. This music is so entertaining and such a pleasure to listen to singers who really had to and could sing for their supper.

Summary: A Real Keeper
Comment: This is an excellent DVD for Motown fanatics. It takes you back to "the day" with performances done in "the day" not recent ones. It's fun to not only hear the music but to see the style of clothing and the moves they used while performing. Also, there are interviews with the Supremes giving a little history behind the tunes. I highly recommend this DVD.

Summary: Just what I was looking for ! ! !
Comment: Just what I was looking for, the old performances of the old groups, not the new performance of the old group...in other words D. Ross in her hey day....not her at 64yrs old playing at the Shylite Club.
