Editorial Reviews:

MLB 07: The Show delivers online baseball action the way it should be. The franchise now introduces the all-new Road to The Show mode, enabling gamers to play both offenseand defense from the created player's perspective. With the Adaptive Pitching Intelligence (API) feature, catchers will call the game based on the individual strengths and weaknesses of each pitcher as well as analyze tendencies of batters. Gamers will now have the ability to either trust the pitches called by the catcher or shake them off. Online League Play offers customizable leagues with up to 30 teams, complete with full stat tracking, point benefits and rewards. The My Sliders feature allows users to create their perfect game settings and upload them to the MLB 07 The Show server for others to try out.

Summary: A decent baseball game
Comment: My favorite baseball game ever was MLB 2k5 for PS2. The controls were spot on, it was hardly ever glitchy, and the graphics were pretty good for that day and age. However, after buying a PSP, I realized I wanted a quick baseball game as it is that time of year. Not wanting to shell out the extra bucks for MLB 08 or 2k8 (since graphics aside, there isn't that much year-to-year difference anyway), I picked this up. First, let me say the graphics are high-PS2 caliber, and that is saying A LOT for a PSP game. For a very small screen, they cram a lot of stuff in, the only downside being the total lack of detail on players' faces. Another thing this game does very well is totally immerse you in a highly realistic baseball experience. Some games (most, really) still leave you feeling less like a manager and more like a 20-year old who's sitting on his parents couch playing his PSP. However, this does a very nice job of all the small things, whether you're in season, career, or quick play mode.

Now for the controls. I really love the batting and the "guess the pitch" controls, and pitching is wondeful as well. Fielding is decent, but the fielders seem really stupid, a routine ground ball will sometimes not be thrown to first in time just because the fielder didn't throw it hard enough (and I turned the throwing strength slider all the way up and nothing changed). But now we come to the part of the game I hate most: the baserunning. First, it's extremely hard to control, and second, the baserunners only obey you about half the time, which makes for an unholy mess. The AI is suspicious as well, it is very easy to cheat. (For example, if a runner is on third and there is only one out, simply bunt along the first base line and the fielders throw to first every time, giving you an easy run).

Online play and gamesharing are completely underwhelming. I have done both at least three or four times and every single time, the pitching was off for both players. I could not control where I was going to pitch, and my opponent could not control what he was going to pitch. It was also really really laggy and glitchy.

It's a decent game, and most likely the best baseball game on PSP, but very disappointing in the MLB franchise.

Summary: Great Game
Comment: This is a great game. My son plays it a lot. He really loves the Road to the Show mode. In this mode you create a player and choose a team. You start in the minors and work your way up to a starter in the majors. This is a fun mode but at times it can be frustrating. The mini games are ok. The Home Run Derby is not very fun. The graphics in this game are awesome. The players look extremely real. The commentary is good, although the announcers tend to say the same thing game after game. The one other concern is the load times. When you are loading to get into a game it can take 30 seconds to a minute to load. When you get into the game it is well worth the load time. This game is great for anybody and is a phenomenal game.

Summary: MLB 07 Rules
Comment: MLB 07 is the best sports game on the psp system period. The graphics and sounds of the ballparks are the real deal.

Summary: Overall good game with a few setbacks
Comment: I enjoyed the game with exception to a few glitches. The only time on career mode that the manager let me throw a complete game was when I was close to throwing a perfect game. There were times when the manager pulled me with 1 out left in the game and a shutout was still intact. You can question the decision but the common response was that he saw that I was tiring or that sometimes he says that he should have left me in longer, but the bottom line is your player/pitcher gets pulled, having it impossible to complete some goals such as getting complete games, etc... Then there are times when the fielders double clutch, resulting in what should be errors but the computer always gives them hits, which goes against your player/pitcher's avg. against.

With exception to those glitches, I enjoy the hitting, pitching and fielding aspects of the game.

Summary: If it's all you got!
Comment: I just recently bought a PSP and got this game so I could play some baseball. The graphics are amazing. I have only played the season so far and havn't tried anything else. Some of the aspects of playing the game are garbage. I had a guy hit an in-the-park homerun by running from second across the pithcers mound and home. I have had runners go from first to thrid by crossing the diamond and have had runners run past second and all the way to the centerfield wall. I did want that guy to go home but not literally. I watched David Ortiz take a pitch that should have hit him in the chin and hit it 400 feet over the Green Monster. Right. Throwing the ball from the outfield is always fun. I tried to throw a guy out at second and hit the button to throw the ball to second and for some reason the ball went to home plate. When the ball is first hit who you are going to control is always a fun guess. On a ball hit that one would think the second baseman is going to get for some reason I have control of the shortstop. It wouldn't bother me to much if the second basement would get off his lazy butt and go after the ball. That is some of the problems I am having with this game. I keep playing it cause I'm stuck in Iraq and don't have much else to do to pass the time away. I'm thinking about buying a new baseball game, but I guess this will have to do for the time being. If it's all you got, it's all you got.
