Haribo Gold-Bears are the original gummi bear. Invented in 1922, the Gold-Bear was originally called the "Dancing Bear." About the Brand
Haribo, founded in 1920 in Bonn, Germany by Hans Riegel, is one of the most prominent manufacturers of sweets (namely fruit gums, licorice, and foam) in the world. The company name is an acronym for "Hans Riegel, Bonn" and stands as a reminder of Haribo's continuing loyalty to early traditions. After Hans Riegel died during World War II, his son, also named Hans Riegel, took over the factory and expanded its operations, taking over many local confectionery manufacturers in countries all over the world. Currently, Haribo operates five factories in Germany and 13 throughout the rest of Europe. The company also has sales offices in almost every country in Europe as well as in the Unites States. Haribo's German catch phrase is "Haribo macht kinder froh / und Erwachsene ebenso," which translates as "Kids and grown-ups love it so / the happy world of Haribo."

Comment: A very different taste than American gummies, and totally delicious. Different texture, too.

Comment: It would have been good for me to know the ingredients prior to purchasing. I expected the German-made version which has real fruit extracts. This 5-pound bag is from Hungary and contains artificial and "natural" flavors instead. The difference in taste is noticeable, not to mention the obvious advantage for one's health to have something with real fruit rather than something with flavor.
On a side note, expect to pay a lot for shipping. There appears to be no land option, airmail only. But, that might depend on whether you live in the same country as the retailer or not.
I realized after the purchase that I would save 30-40% by purchasing the small bags at a local store that imports them from Germany.

it was delivered quite fast and its a big hit over there. The quality , i am told, is very good and it tastes good, with a myriad assortment of flavors and colors. The candy itself was not too hard and was nice and chewy.
I would recommend Haribo with all confidence and would definitely be purchasing from them in the future.

Summary: HARIBO has THE Best Bears BURSTING With FLAVOR!
Comment: First of all I would like to say that HANDS DOWN, Haribo makes the best Gummi Candies. It's true. If you've ever tried another brand, you'd know and once you try Haribo, you'd never go back!
These Haribo Gummi Candy Gold-Bears are just Bursting with Flavor! They are soft and chewy. (But not so soft that they are sticky and stick to your teeth)! I've loved these since I was young and now my son loves them too. They come in about six different flavors and each one is yummy! You also get a good mix of colors and flavors. They're a great snack and most people can eat them because they're not a "chocolate-type candy" where you'd have to worry about allergies.
They arrived at my home fresh and delicious. To keep them this way, I put them in two "Freezer Bags" and of course, I kept some out. Everyone that's stopped by has had the temptation to eat some and that's OK. I bought this HUGE five pound bag!
Speaking of the Five Pound Bag, the price for this is a true VALUE! These cost so much at the market or candy store at the mall per pound! And these are the same exact bears, but you don't have to worry if everyone has touched them or how long they've been out in the open before you came along to scoop them up in your bag! That's a big plus for me!
I definitely recommend these gummi bears, they are a sweet and delicious treat and the VALUE is phenomenal! I will definitely be ordering more bears plus a few different kinds as well. We all have our favorites!
