Hellgate: London combines the depth of role-playing games with the action of first-person action titles. It is a world devastated by a demon invasion, where players must create a hero and battle through innumerable hordes of demons while completing quests and advancing through experience levels. Explore a desolate city scorched by hellfire where the survivors meld science and sorcery to gain a foothold against the minions of darkness and save the bloodline of humanity. A robust, flexible skill and spell system, highly customizable items, and a massive variety of randomly generated equipment allow players to create heroes that are truly unique. London, 2038. According to legend, when the ravens depart the Tower of London, it will crumble to rubble and disaster will befall England. As man became more dependent on science, believing only in what he could define or create, ancient knowledge and rituals were lost to the antiquity of time. Prophecies that had stood as warning for untold generations were seen as archaic folly or ignorant superstition. So, when the harbingers of evil began to manifest, few saw and fewer believed. When the demons finally came, there was little that stood in their way. Compelling cooperative multiplayer experience - by creating unique and individualized game play instances within a vast online community, gamers get all the best parts of traditional massive multiplayer games Hellgate - London Game on 2 DVDs / Bonus Disc containing - Making of Hellgate - London; Official Game Soundtrack

Customer Rating: Summary: Let Down Comment: I had waited months for this game to come out...and when it did I sorta wish it never had. At least then I could remain blissfully ignorant of the quality (or lack there of) of this game. I put about 15 hours into the game hoping it would improve, but the game play was so repetitive and lackluster that I decided enough was enough.
I admit the concept was good and the potential was there, but in the end, for me, it was extremely boring. A big waste of $50.
Customer Rating: Summary: save your money Comment: first of, stop by their official forums and browse the tech support section. this game, even now allmost a year after release is plagued with problems.
i have a Radeon HD 4870, 4G ram, intel core 2 duo processor, SATA raid, I can run the game on full graphics modes with no lag, but textures are missing, i can't deconstuct an item, random crashes.
I'm forced to lower settings to low in order to play the game, which makes everything look crappy.
I can run Oblivion full settings smooth as butter, this goat of a game, no.
Tech Support over at hellgate forums consists of two things
1.) They want your dxdiag output
2.) they tell you to uninstall/reinstall your video drivers and the game, even when you explain that EVERYTHING works fine except for hellgate
Also check Google for "Flagship Studios" and see what the company itself has been doing. They've laid off most of the developers, it's a bad situation.
They've taken away the option to 'subscribe' to premium service b/c they simply can't support it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Overhyped, Underrated Comment: I feel bad for Flagship Studios. As a programmer in the games industry, I know how hard it is to make a game. I know how long it takes. I know how brutal the PC industry is. I first saw "Hellgate: London" at E3 in 2005. I thought it looked like it had a lot of potential. I then saw it again at E3 2006, and thought it looked pretty much the same. I forgot about it for a while, and then all the hype surrounding its release began.
The problem is, games have a very hard time living up to hype. Especially when they have a bit of a rocky launch like Hellgate did.
The thing is, Hellgate is actually a pretty fun game. It's an action-RPG in the vein of Diablo (expected/understandable since it's the former Diablo devs who started the company), and it's a good one. Unlike so many of the other Diablo clones, this one keeps one of the core features that made Diablo so great: random dungeons. It's truly an underrated game, and I am very sorry to see Flagship in the state that it's in now.
If you haven't played "Hellgate: London," I recommend you grab a copy and play it. It's certainly worth more than the price it can be had for these days.
Customer Rating: Summary: A VERY UNDER-RATED GAME IN MY OPINION Comment: I'm not gonna write some long-winded revw on how great this game is - I went into this with NO expectations whatsoever and ended up really liking this game - it wasn't too hard and i spent a week or 2 playing it and becoming very involved and interested in it. and that was on single player, so i can't even imagine how good it would be on multi-player. anyways no way does it deserve a 1, 2, or 5 maybe a 3 or 4 but since i had to give it a grade i would say 3.5 as i experienced no bugs whatsoever. come-on now this is at least as good a game as the witcher (which i felt was kinda boring and repetitive after a while) or crysis (over=rated).
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Game and Why Comment: Ive heard of problems with its release I bought it at bargain bend not hoping for much. I like this game whatever problems they had they fixed the only bad part is I dont think they will do an expansion. If you liked Oblivion or diablo2 this you should like also. better graphics with the same game play as diablo2 equal graphics if not better than oblivion. I have not tried the online portion of this game however. An expansion is needed to make this truly great adding more lvls items and classes like diablo 2 did.
