Customer Rating: Summary: The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Headache Comment: I've been a big fan of the Spyro games for years. I bought the original three games for the PlayStation console on release day. I poured blood, sweat and tears into those games. They were great: imaginitive, creative, and challenging. I could escape from my own world as a kid and become a dragon for a day. It was a dream come true for me.
Unfortunately, the new Spyro game leaves a lot to be desired. Gone is the care-free roaming and playful burning of enemies. Gone is the light-hearted missions and goals. In its place is a long, poorly lit game that makes me squint, swear and scream. Whoever decided to reinvent Spyro had the right idea by creating a more constant-danger ongoing adventure. However, they should have thought twice before they made every single enemy so difficult to kill that the player must die half a dozen times to succeed. This is not how Spyro is supposed to be. Despite my love for Spyro, or probably because of it, I am sorely disappointed in this game, and would not recommend it to others, unless you enjoy sitting in front of the television screen for hours on end yelling and cursing at the purple, pixelated graphic running around at your beck and call.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great game Comment: I have nothing to say about it, I gave it as a present and never heard a word about it.
Customer Rating: Summary: So-So repeat for Spyro Comment: Unfortunately, this game follows the "wham-bam" focus as it's most recent predecessors. It's not about exploring anymore, it's about whopping enemies on the head, ad nauseam. Compared to the first three Spyro games, this one completely sucks. But if you look at it independently, it's not so bad, just repetitive to the nth degree. Spyro fans go ahead and buy it, but casual gamers may skip out on this one.
Customer Rating: Summary: A little harder, but still fun! Comment: Overall, I thought this game was pretty good. The graphics were AMAZING, and the voicovers were just as good. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that this game was much harder than the other Spyro games. Again, many people say 'Oh, this game is horrible because it's not like the other Spyro games'. This bothers me A LOT! THINGS CHANGE, PEOPLE! GET USED TO IT! And I thought it was a change for the better. All those mini games got a bit annoying after a while. I like the more combat theme of the Legend of Spyro games. The others seemed to lack my interest (just to let you know, I'm not one of those people who loves gory games. I'm a 13 year old girl who likes horse games and Spyro games :P) Don't not take me seriously just because I'm only 13. I know what I'm saying when I say I like this game. Like I've said before, it is a bit more difficult than other Spyro games, but after i beat it, there was no problem. Now, even starting from scratch, I beat the game daily. I'm not saying it's too easy, I'm saying that it gets easier once you figure out what you're doing. And the end of the game has made me want Dawn of the Dragon extremely bad. So, take my advice and get this game. If you don't want to buy it, at least rent it!
Customer Rating: Summary: If you love the original Spyro games, don't bother with this Comment: Obviously the designers of this game have never actually played the original Spyro games. Either that or they had a bad Spyro childhood experience and decided to get revenge by destroying a much loved franchise. The only similarity between this game and the originals is that there is a purple dragon and a dragonfly. Though the dragon now has th obnoxious voice of Elijah Wood. I have to say I played the game on mute just to get away from it. The controlsin this game are sluggish and you feel more like you're trying to fly an elephant instead of a nimble dragon. The first game in this trilogy was also a joke. I played it solely because I grew up with the origial games and was looking forward to a good adventure. I finished the entire game in under 4 hours.....yes I actually am serious. Luckily, my local gaming store refunded my $50 (yes $50 for 4 hours). I bought this game hoping that there had to be some improvement but alas it's even worse than the last one. This is going to be the last game I ever buy from these people. I would like the think that if Insomniac knew what was going to happen to this franchise whe the gave it up, that they might have held onto it. I was so annoyed and frustrated by it that I played for a few hours then turned it off and started replaying the original 3 Spyro games. My advice is to do the same.
