I bought it about a year ago and attend classes 2-3 times a week. Needless to say, it's been through a lot of abuse and washings (I air dry b/c it's "greener" and b/c the tag said it might stain the inside of the dryer) and it still looks & works great. It's very helpful in giving you a little bit more stability from slipping/sliding on your mat (we live in a very warm climate, so perspiration is an issue). I've found I can try more intense poses with more confidence, and less slipping.
