The Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router is really four devices in one. There's the dual-band Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together at up to gigabit speeds. The Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. There is also a Storage Link that lets you easily add gigabytes of storage space onto your network using readily available USB 2.0 hard drives or plug in a USB flash disk for a convenient way to access your portable data files. The built-in Media Server streams music, video, and photos from the attached storage device to any UPnP compatible media adapter. The Access Point built into the Router uses a dual-band version of the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios for each band, Wireless-N's Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase its range and reduce Dead Spots in the wireless coverage area. To help protect your data and privacy, the Router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. Security features - WEP - WPA - WPA2 Security key bits - Up to 256-bit encryption System Requirements - Internet Explorer 6.0 or Firefox 1.0, CD-ROM drive, Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, XP and Vista, and Network Adapter Dimensions - 7.48 x 5.71 x 7.01 (190x145x178mm) Weight - 1.51 pounds (683 grams)

Customer Rating: Summary: utter garbage Comment: crashes on a daily basis, sometimes half a dozen times an hour. tried turning off all the automatic channel selection and other complexities, which reduced the crash rate to a couple a day. still unacceptable garbage, especially for $300. i have since ordered a dual-band from netgear for 1/3rd the price and i will never buy a linksys product again. beware if you entertain thoughts of upgrading it to dd-wrt firmware that this model has an un-upgradable firmware version installed on it (search on 600n unable to upgrade on the dd-wrt website) so you won't be able to. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT (or anything by linksys) unless you want to get ripped off.
Customer Rating: Summary: Seems Pretty Good Comment: I purchased the WRT600N (I was replacing my 300N for the Dual system) and installed it. For the record all has worked fine. Unit looks good, wireless and wired sections work very well and there (Seemed) to be a better responce than the older one. In fact I have only 1 gripe with this item. The Setup install Prog did NOT work, stopping with Error 302. This happened on my MAIN (XP32) my SERVER (Vista32) and my Laptop (XP32)so I gave up but it all worked anyway?? I have connected 5 other computers to the Lan and they are all picked up by the new "Linksys EasyLink Advisor" Software that DID install ok. It also picked up my IP Cam and my Linksys Streamer. All in all good machine but "Start Setup" caused me problems. I didn't go into cure because the Unit worked ok without it. Just do the setup manually thru Iexplore.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works great once you've... Comment: I set this up for my father-in-law and the WRT600N worked great once we learned to "unbridge" the DSL modem from AT&T. Once this was accomplished, the rest of the setup went very smoothly. This is the second Linksys wireless router I've purchased and I am very pleased with their performance. On this model, I believe they changed the TCIP address of the router to 192.168.1.0 vs the 192.168.1.1 address of my WRT330N router...not a "biggie" but took a little research to locate. I was also able to easily setup his USB backup drive off of the router so it could be used as network storage. He was pleased with this feature and now has an easy place to backup all of his important documents, music, and pictures. All in all it is a great product.
Customer Rating: Summary: works great and looks great Comment: I could not wait to install the Linksys WRT600n. Fortunately, I have a friend in my company IT department who helped me install this unit and my home network. This made things very easy. Once the unit was installed I noticed immediately that internet speeds increased tremedously, not only over my wifi network but on the hard wired network as well. I was using an older g wifi router from D-Link. The dual band work as described and the network security was very easy to set up. My laptop and other wifi applications noticed the network quickly and was very easy to setup.
The only draw back was that the software that came with the Linksys kept telling me that it did not recognize the unit and asked that it be turned on. The thing is that it was turned on and working. Other than that I am enjoying gaming online, and have found that I can be a good distance from the unit and still am receiving signal. I would highly recommend.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice spec. Lousy implementation. Comment: I just can't recommend this router to anyone at the moment, esp. with some fundamental problems below:
1. DHCP - If you have a dedicated DHCP server somewhere on the network, then forget about this router. The darn thing would still assign IPs even if you disable the DHCP function. It'd also send DHCPNACK with DHCP diabled.
2. DHCP again - If you assign a DHCP range and assign them as static entries. It'd still assign those IPs to other machines.
3. DDNS - Obviously the router doesn't keep track of the WAN IP changes and if you save the configuration a few times, it'd try to update the IP on the dynamic DNS server multiple times, causing the custom domain to be banned.
4. Tech support - Not exactly the router's problem but if you have a support person who'd recommend connecting a cable modem to the LAN port to get around the DHCP problem, you're just not going to trust their tech support anymore.
