Customer Rating: Summary: My Kindles Buddy Comment: I am glad I ordered this stand. When my Kindle is not with me I know exactly where it is at.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Little Stand Comment: This stand is exceptionally well designed and made. It is perfect for
holding the kindle in reading position with or without the kindle cover.
The backrest slides tightly into a groove in the base which holds it
securely. The cut-off corner of the backrest makes reaching the switches
on the back of the kindle a little easier. More convenience is added by
the other cut-out in the base which allows wires from the battery
charger, the USB cable or earphones to plug into the kindle while it is on
the stand. The special rubberized coating seems ideal for handling and
for holding the kindle. The little rubber strips in grooves along the
edges which contact the surface on which the stand rests are another extra
value feature. I'm really pleased to have this stand.
Customer Rating: Summary: Perfect!!! Comment: I have 2 reading stands that I used before I bought the Kindle. One was a small white metal stand for paperbacks and very small books. That cost $22 more than ten years ago. It has two little bars that hold the front of the book down. The bars block some of the words, and I have to move the book to see them.
This stand is much nicer than I expected. It doesn't have anything in front of the Kindle that blocks part of the screen. I just got my Kindle, so I had to charge it immediately when I read my first book.
The cord went right through the special opening. The stand holds the book a little higher than the table, so it's at a comfortable height for reading.
Customer Rating: Summary: Overpriced, but highly useful Comment: I agree with the other reviewers that this item is WAY OVERPRICED. However, having the cut-out for the charging cord is very convenient.
The two metal pieces, once put together, are VERY HARD to disassemble without seriously scratching the rubberized surfaces, making portability or travel a bit difficult.
So far, I am using mine at the kitchen table as I read--mainly to prevent any accidental spills from reaching the Kindle--which was my only reason for getting this device.
If I could find another LESS EXPENSIVE alternative, I would return the stand immediately. Finding none, this fulfills its' function nicely. I do think another, regular book holder or stand might also work, but haven't found any that would adequately accommodate the power cord when attached to the Kindle.
The price is the biggest drawback on this device. Not worth the price, and I may yet return because of that reason... As a result, I am still hunting for a viable alternative. If I find one within the Amazon 30-day return policy limit, back it goes!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Well constructed luxury Comment: First off, I don't think that any middle school shop class has the capability to make aluminum extrusions. This is a very well made, two-piece aluminum extrusion. It has a nice sticky coating that grips my leather Kindle "wallet" quite nicely. It also gives me the capability to read lying down, or reclining in a Lazy Boy chair, with the Kindle power adapter plugged in without the adapter poking me in the stomach. It is also very useful for reading while eating without having to worry about spilling liquids onto it or getting food on it. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but it was worth it to me.
