Customer Rating: Summary: Poor audio quality Comment: Have wanted this ever since I saw it at the CES show, but although the design is great-looking, the audio quality is shockingly poor. The placement of the buttons is poor, as others have mentioned, but you can get used to it. But the static-y, tinny sound was a total turn-off. I couldn't get it in the mail for a return fast enough!
Customer Rating: Summary: Good technology, poor design and interface Comment: The technology on this product is fine; the speaker is good, the microphone picks up sound well, it pairs easily enough, etc. It's even super-small without sacrificing anything. However, the design and user interface of the WEP500 make it near unusable.
Specifically, it's the multi-function button that kills it. The multi-function button covers nearly half the surface of the device and is really easy to press. All well and good, except that by default pressing the multi-function once redials the last number. What this leads to is a flood of "pocket dialing" if you happen to put this in your pocket, or even just when you're trying to put the thing in your ear.
I've taken to dialing my voicemail constantly just so that if my WEP500 accidentally dials a number it won't be anybody I know. That's an insane hoop to have to jump through just because of a bluetooth headset. If you're going to leave this headset in your car or on your desk, and be extra careful every time you insert the earpiece, the device is fine. If you expect to ever transport this with you anywhere, or are less than careful handling it, then this is a headache.
It may be small, and may work fine from a technical standpoint, but this devices drawbacks make it near-unusable.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great for the price. Comment: I only paid 22 bucks for this and at that price, this thing is more than worth it. The downsides have been noted on many reviews on other sites: 1. the button gets accidentally pushed alot, 2. you need that stupid case to charge it, 3. not the best range for bluetooth, 4. talk time is relatively low. Honestly, the button thing is pretty bad but I've just adjusted where I grab it, problem solved. Otherwise, this thing does exactly what it should. Pretty clear sound, super small and lightweight, charges relatively quickly, volume is pretty high. I have owned some of the more expensive ones that honestly do work better but these are good enough and I don't worry about losing them.
Customer Rating: Summary: Very Small and Comfortable, But Bewareof Background Noise Comment: Note: I'm not sure which seller the other reviewer bought this from, but the one sold by Amazon is completely legit.
I've been using this for a couple weeks, after using the Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset for over a year. The WEP500 is more comfortable, and much smaller, but there is no protection from background noise. I am told that when I'm in a quiet area, the sound is very clear and good, but if I'm on the highway or in a crowded place, the background noise can be bothersome to the person on the other end. The battery life also doesn't seem to be as good, but it's reasonable. Other than that, it's a great little headset, and I would recommend it.
One other note: The case you see in the picture is actually the charger for the headset as well, so you cannot use the headset while being charged.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not A real SAMSUNG! Comment: This item is a fake Samsung. Not really sold from Amazon.com TRUST ME, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER. Numbers on the bluetooth are obviously changed and written by hand. The sliver part has a weird gold-like ilver color that doesn't match any wep500 Ive seen in the stores. Rebate offered at the time I purchased is not valid and the number listed on the rebate is an unavailable number, shipping is a p.o.box address. If you complain about this item and try to return it, my guess is you wont get your money back. Go to an authorized dealer, you're better off. I read somewhere online that if the samsung wep500 has a ear hook in it , it's not real. The hologram sticker on the box wasn't real either, it was a black and white circle already a part of the box, looks like they photo copied the front of the box. t is extremely obvious that this is NOT a genuine product.
