Summary: Works for me good value just for the ringtone editor
Comment: I bought this to sync my music to my Motorola Razr2 V9 and hoped to be able to create ringtones from my CD collection. It works on both counts. There are some limitations that are not obvious.
For music transfers it only works with MP3 format and then only for files recorded at 256 kbps or less. Since most of the music is on my PC in WMA format this was a bit of a problem. I found that with both my 64 Vista machine running Media Player V11 and my XP laptop with Media Player V10 all I really needed was the cord to connect the phone to the PC. I can sync using Media Player and it does the conversion for me. I didn't try it before installing phone tools, so I don't know if Phone tools enabled it or not. With 256 kbps MP3 files Phone tools seemed to work fine.
The second odd thing I found was creating ringtones. The software does not seem to like higher resolution files. It gives an error message "file too large" when trying to import for editing. Once I lowered the resolution of the files, I was able to import them into the editor. (it was 256 kbps or less. it might depend on the length of the track). The next problem is the phone wouldn't recognize the ringtones. I found if I kept the ringtones to about 15-17 seconds, they seemed to work just fine.
Given ATT charges almost 3 dollars for each ringtone, it doesn't take long for this software to pay for itself.
I have yet to try syncing contacts with outlook so I can't comment on that.
If all I got out of this was the ringtone editor, it would be worth the purchase for the current price (around 15 dollars). It did include both the mini and micro USB cables which I didn't expect.
Contrary to what others have said, I didn't find the interface that difficult to master - but then again I didn't try advanced functions like syncing outlook.

Summary: Bad software, zero support
Comment: I bought this to hook this up with my V195 (listed as compatible). Well, the software installs okay, but when I try to connect my phone via USB, it tells me that the phone is "unsupported", and to try the update feature. That doesn't work, even though I know there is an update available. Emails to support and requests for help on the Avanquest forums go unheeded. I have a degree in Computer Science, so this is probably not a "user problem." A lot of people seem to have a lot better luck with the Phone Tools, Version 4. I was thinking 5 is newer, thus better. Wrong! You may wish to download a trial version and see if this works for you or not.

Comment: I purchased this to transfer files from my Motorola Razr V3 to my new Motorola Z9. The prior version (4.0) was not listed as working with the new phone on Motorola's web site. It comes with a CD-rom tht has the program and cables that plug into a USB port on the computer and into the phone. It only works with Motorola phones.
Getting the software to recognize both phones was okay, but the software is less than intuitive and the instructions are less than stellar, which is the reason for only 3 stars. Motorola's web site only has a copy of the manual for questions.
I ordered the new phone through Amazon, so I had to transfer the numbers from my old phone myself. Transferring the data was okay, but I found it was easier to transfer the old data to my computer, edit it for compatibility with the new phone since the new phone didn't recognize some of the categories from the old phone, and then transfer from the computer to the new one. This also provides a backup in case the new phone has a problem. I saved the new files in a new Contacts category in Microsoft Outlook.
The software is also supposed to allow you to create ringtones. You can copy from a CD or files on your computer. The problem is knowing how long a clip to record and transfer to your phone. The files are usable only if they are of a maximum length in kb, but the software only tells you how long the clip is in seconds. I gave up trying to do that. The Z9 can use a Micro SD card for storage, so the software makes it easy to transfer audio, video or picture files to that.
There isn't really anything else that I could find to do this, and there isn't an AT&T store near me that I could take it to, so it is a necessity evil if you don't want to manually enter all of your numbers to your new phone.

Comment: This product does not support our two different RAZR models. To date we haven't been able to resolve this issue.
The software did work with another Motorola phone in our family. (All phones are Alltel)
